Objectives

The objective of the Academy is to provide wide ranging effective training with unparalled experience to the serving Judicial officers. Also to Create opportunities for personal growth and career advancement to the new recruits in their Induction Training and to keep them in pace with the emerging legal, social and technological trend. It aims to inspire Judicial Officers to achieve excellence.

Recognition of the need for continuing education by the judiciary as a profession - comprises of three principal components, viz

  • New judge transition - to train and educate new appointees to assume office, to facilitate the transition from advocate to adjudicator, and to bridge the gap between inexperienced and experienced
  • Continuing education - to facilitate the ongoing professional development of judicial officers and to keep them abreast of change; and
  • Ongoing development - to a considerably lesser degree, to address other career or personal development needs.


Training

Academy regularly conducts Foundation Course, Orientation programme, Advanced Training and Refresher course. The Foundation training comprises of two parts - Theory and Practical. Visits to Courts, Police establishments, Jails, Revenue Department including Survey, Railway Protection Force and General Hospital are undertaken. The course curriculum includes stress and time management, court management, forensic science, judicial ethics, consumer law, environmental laws, Gender justice, labour laws, medical jurisprudence and criminology, ADR, IPR, cyber laws, Juvenile Justice and Adoption, etc.


Resource Persons

Experts from various disciplines and inter disciplinary faculties are invited to deliver guest lectures and make presentations.

Learning By Participation

The services offered by any programme of continuing judicial education is determined by need. We understand that adults learn best by participation and interaction. Consequently, our preferred pedagogical approaches are interaction, engagement and participation. The programme facilitates the participants to identify and prioritise the training services by being more interactive and participative.


Video Conferencing Facility

Interlinking of National Judicial Academy, Bhopal and other State Judicial Academies with Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy, Chennai through Video Conferencing to make engagement of Judicial Officers in programmes of other Judicial Academies.
