Hon'ble Mr.Justice K.R. SHRIRAM
Chief Justice, High Court of Madras

1. Born in Mumbai on 28.09.1963, Justice K.R.Shriram completed B.Com in Financial Accountancy and Management and LL.B. From Mumbai University, following which he pursued LL.M. (Maritime Law) from King’s College, London.  He passed LL.M. in merit.

2. He enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa on 3rd July 1986 and joined the Chambers of Mr.S.Venkiteswaran, Senior Advocate.  In 1997, he set up his own Chamber and dealt in commercial matters with specialization is Shipping and International Trade Law; Writ matters arising out of Ports Acts, Customs Act, Motor Vehicles Act, Marine Insurance (including re-insurance and P& I); Company Law Matters etc.

3. He has done litigation and non-litigation work and has appeared in Bombay High Court, the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, other High Courts of India, and in the National and State Consumer Disputes Redressal Forums, Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal, Securities Appellate Tribunal, Company Law Board, and various arbitrations. He has also conducted trials in Civil Suits; statutory inquiries under Merchant Shipping Act; engineering construction arbitration; and consumer redressal disputes.

4. He served as a member of the Core Committee-I (Admiralty matters) for consideration of draft of Unification of Orginal and Appellate Side Rules of Bombay High Court.

5. On the personal front, Justice Shriram was actively involved in social causes, helping families where there is a bereavement.  For many years he served as the Vice-Chairman of Dharmishta Mithran, an NGO, that runs centers for performing obsequies and ‘Shraadd’ for the departed.  He loves playing golf and is well travelled across the country and internationally.

6.Elevated as Additional Judge of the Bombay High court on 21st June 2013.  Confirmed as Permanent Judge of the Bombay High Court on 2nd March 2016.

7. Elevated as Chief Justice of the Madras High Court on 21st September 2024 and assumed the office on 27th September, 2024.

Hon'ble Mr.Justice R.SUBRAMANIAN
Judge, High Court of Madras

Justice R.SUBRAMANIAN was born on 25.07.1963 at Manangadu Village, Thanjavur District. He belongs to a agricultural family of Kamakshipuram Village, Thiruvidaimarudhur Taluk, Thanjavur District. His father Late.Shri.K.V.Rajagopalan was an intensive agriculturist and was also Honorary Member of the Tamil Nadu Rice Research Institute at Aduthurai. His mother Tmt.R.Saradhammal is the daughter of a famous personality Late.Shri.M.V.Viswanatha Iyer of Manangadu Village, Pattukottai Taluk, Thanjavur District.

He had his preliminary education at St., Thomas High School, St.Thomas Mount, Chennai and did his higher secondary (+2) at Sir P.S.Sivaswami Iyer Higher Secondary School at Thirukattupalli. Graduated in Commerce from A.V.V.M.Sri Pushpam College, Poondi, Thanjavur in the year 1983. He took three years B.L.Degree Course at Dr.Ambedkar Government Law College, Pondicherry in 1983-1986 and enrolled as an Advocate on 10.09.1986.

Joined the Chambers of Late.Shri.V.Krishnan, S/o.M.S.Venkataraman Iyer, a doyen of the Madras Bar and mostly appeared in Civil and writ jurisdiction of the High Court, apart from the City Civil Court and Court of Small Causes at Chennai. Functioned as Member of the Committee formed by the Madras High Court to discuss the amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure in the year 2002 under the Chairmanship of the Hon'ble Mr.Justice E.Padmanabhan. He has been the regular Resource Person to the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy and was elevated as a permanent Judge of the Madras High Court on 05.10.2016.

Hon'ble Mr. Justice M. SUNDAR
Judge, High Court of Madras

Justice M.Sundar was born on 19th July, 1966 in Chennai, he graduated in Law from the Madras Law College, belongs to the first batch of 5 years integrated Law Course and he enrolled as an Advocate in 1989. He practiced primarily in the Madras High Court and had a wide spectrum of practice on the Civil Side. He was standing counsel for TWAD Board, Government of Tamil Nadu between 2003 and 2006. He was sworn in as permanent Judge of this Court on 05.10.2016.

Hon'ble Mr. Justice C.V. KARTHIKEYAN
Judge, High Court of Madras

Born on 14th December 1964 as sixth generation in a family of Lawyers and Judges to Sri C.V. SIMHARAJA SASTRI and Smt. SARASWATHY S. SASTRI.

Did initial schooling at St. JOSEPH`S PRESENTATION CONVENT, Royapuram, Chennai, and later completed High School from St. MARY`S HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, Armenian Street, Chennai and Higher Secondary from HINDU SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, Triplicane, Chennai. Graduated in B.Sc. (Statistics) from MADRAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, Tambaram, Chennai and in B.L. from Dr. AMBEDKAR LAW COLLEGE, Chennai. Later also completed M.L. from ANNAMALAI UNVERSITY and M.A. from MADURAI KAMARAJ UNIVERSITY.

Enrolled as Advocate on 23rd August 1989 and joined the office of late Sri V.S. SUBRAHMANYAN, Advocate and Part-Time Professor, Madras Law College. Also established commendable individual practice.


Selected as District Judge in Tamil Nadu State Judicial Service and joined service on 6th June 2005 as Trainee District Judge at Ramanathapuram. Served as II Additional District Judge (CBI Cases), Madurai, Additional and Principal Labour Court Judge at Vellore, Director, Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy, Registrar (Vigilance), Madras High Court and finally as Chief Judge, Puducherry, during which period also served intermittently as Member Secretary, Puducherry Legal Services Authority.

Hon'ble Mr. Justice A.D. JAGADISH CHANDIRA
Judge, High Court of Madras

Mr.Justice A.D.Jagadish Chandira, was born on 15.02.1966 in Virapandiapatnam Village in Thoothukudi District. His father Late Prof. Dasan Fernando was the Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Chemistry in Aditanar College of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur. Mother Mrs.Metilda Dasan was a Home Maker, who had taken the role of heading the family after the demise of his father in his early ages. His wife Mrs. Chiara Jagadish had completed her M.A (Public Administration) and M.Sc (Counselling and Guidance), however had chosen to be a Home Maker.

Mr. Justice A.D. Jagadish Chandira though initially got admitted in Madurai Law College later transferred and completed his Law Degree at Dr.Ambedkar Govt. Law College, Chennai and enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1989. Initially he had trained himself with M/s. King and Partridge as Junior Advocate (1989-91) and thereafter practised as Junior Advocate in the office of Mr.P.Peppin Fernando, in both the offices he had appeared in the Civil cases and later joined the office of his maternal uncle Shri.G.R.Edmund and practiced extensively in Criminal sides both in trial and appellate sides.

He had started his individual practice in the year 1997 and had practiced in both trial and appellate sides in Civil, Criminal matters, before Consumer and other Commissions and also in Writ Jurisdictions. He served as an Additional Public Prosecutor of the Madras High Court during the year 2010 and this apart he has served as Panel Counsel to the State Human Rights Commission and also as the Honorary Legal Advisor to the Tamil Nadu State Women's Commission, Chennai. He was a Honorary Associate Editor of the Law Journal-Chennai Law Times (Criminal).

He was appointed as a Amicus Curiae to assist the Court in the matter of Katta Panchayat in the year 2016.

Hon'ble Mrs. Justice T.V. THAMILSELVI
Judge, High Court of Madras

Born on 19.06.1968 at Perndurai, Erode District to Thiru.R.Thiruganasambandam and Smt.P.K.Lakshmi. Studied at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Perundurai and, completed B.L., Degree at Pondicherry Law College. Enrolled in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu in 1990 and started practice at Erode Bar. Joined in Judicial service as Civil Judge in 1995 and promoted as Senior Civil Judge in 2005. Promoted as District Judge in 2013 and appointed as a Judge, Family Court, Madurai and then Principal District Judge, Pudukkottai, then as Registrar Judicial, High Court-Madurai Bench till elevation. Appointed as Additional Judge, High Court of Madras on 03.12.2020 and became a Permanent Judge on 31.05.2022.

Hon'ble Mr. Justice D.BHARATHA CHAKRAVARTHY
Judge, High Court of Madras

Justice D. Bharatha Chakravarthy, graduated in Law from Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry (1988-93), was a general practitioner (from 1993) conducting litigations at the Madras High Court, Tribunals and Subordinate Courts at Chennai. Practiced along with colleagues T. Sai Krishnan and Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan as the law-firm “Sai, Bharath &Ilan”. Served as the Public Prosecutor for the Union Territory of Puducherry at the Madras High Court (from 2017 till date of his elevation ).

He is an Accredited Mediator (from 2005) with the Tamilnadu Mediation & Conciliation Centre, having mediated around 400 referrals. He is a Trainer (from 2007) in Mediation having trained Mediators & Referral Judges of several States in India. He has been the Joint Secretary and the Co-Ordinator of the Madras High Court Mediation Centre. He is an Arbitrator empaneled with the Madras High Court Arbitration Centre.

He has authored “Seek Mediation” an awareness booklet for the Tamilnadu Mediation Centre (2009); Co-authored the chapter “Mediation and the Madras High Court” along with Mr. Sriram Panchu in “The Madras High Court – A 150 Year Journey from a Crown Court to Peoples Court’’ by Mr.N.L. Rajah (2012); Translated the “Mediation Manual of India” in Tamil for the Tamilnadu Mediation Centre (2019); and authored the Chapter on “Community Mediation” in the book “Mediation Policy & Practice” by Chitra Narayan, Oak bridge Publications (2020).

He ran a mobile app ’lift – law in finger tips’, a bilingual free legal educational app (from 2013-2020). He is a trained volunteer with the Madras High Court Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC).
